Middle Ground Co. was created to support the local design community by showcasing and selling exceptional products made right here in the Midwest. Each product is hand-picked based on the design aesthetic, quality of craftsmanship and uniqueness of the design.
All items are hand-made in small batches and many are truly one-of-a-kind. Our artists love what they do and it shows in the quality of their products.
We care about the environment too! Many of our items are created using recycled, reclaimed, upcycled and "green" products. Read below for additional details about each artist.

Colorways Gallery creates our SMOOSH super chunky blankets with love in Indiana by 3 generations of one family. How awesome is that! With the sudden passing of her husband in 2015, Trish, her mother, Bobbie and Trish's daughter, Kayla have turned knitting into a full time family business. This dream team acquires the raw wool and hand spins it into yarn in order to obtain the exact quality they require for knitting each blanket. They even make their own giant needles. Now that's full service!
Furthest creates our oven mitts, potholders, aprons, snowmen and stockings with love in Iowa. Each item is completely unique as the fabrics are all vintage feed and seed sacks mixed with modern prints. Megan scours the Midwest for the perfect vintage fabrics to turn into these beautiful creations. Not just art, these items are made to be used!
Blooming in April hand crafts our 3-dimensional paper vignettes showcased in the Home Sweet Home section. A wife and mother who loves all things art and design, April painstakingly crafts each artwork down to the minutest of details because sometimes less is not always more! Made with love in Michigan. Samantha McIntosh Jewelry is made with love in Michigan. This mother of 3 has been making wearable art since 2011. A bit of reckless abandon after graduating summa cum laude in pre-medical sciences led Samantha into the world of jewelry making and she hasn't looked back. She draws her inspiration from clean lines, ancient cultural designs and her equestrian background. She sources her metal from a recycled-metal only green supplier and when making the jewelry she uses green and organic processes with as little environmental impact whenever possible.
Siberian Soap Co.'s soaps, balms and puppy products are made with love in Iowa. Combining her love of science, art and her dogs, Ann utilizes her degree in chemical engineering to make plant based, nature inspired products for people and dogs. She loves the creative process of soap making and creating the unique formulas for products that are mild, moisturizing, skin-loving, long lasting and eco friendly. And yes, her company is named after her Siberian husky!
Loom Shack rugs are crafted with love in Illinois. Learning to weave on looms from the early 1900's to 1960's started as a hobby for Katie, Kerri and Michele and now these 3 friends are so adept at weaving they offer demonstrations at local farm and craft shows. Each rug is made with recycled fabric or selvedge (left-over fabric from factories destined for the landfill) and is made to last a lifetime.
Warren Hadley is our artist who creates the hand turned wood objects de arte and Christmas ornaments. Having retired from a long career in farming, Warren picked up the hobby of wood turning. Nearing the age of 80, Warren considers himself an amateur, but after seeing the amazing pieces he makes, I strongly disagree! Warren works only with wood from trees that have fallen down naturally or when someone is removing an unwanted tree. Upcycling at it's finest! Made with love in Illinois.
Smith Farm's artist, Kathy, who was born and raised in a small town has 5 children, 4 grandchildren, a small flock of sheep, cows, chickens and a dog! Kathy's fondness of her sheep led to the love of wool, spinning, dying, felting, crocheting and all things fiber-y. Kathy loves the creative outlet this provides. She crochets our hat and bootie sets with love in Illinois. A Well Worn Story makes our handbags with love in Illinois. Morgann and Dylan are the faces behind A Well Worn Story and use vintage, reclaimed, new-old stock, ethically sourced and found objects to make handbags that will last a lifetime. Breathing new life into old things is their passion and this philosophy is seen not just in the bags they create in their barn studio but even in the fixer upper farmhouse they recently purchased in rural Illinois.
Made by Ilyssa confetti cards are made with love in Illinois. Ilyssa has been crafting since she was a child and dreamt of one day hosting her own television craft show. Motherhood has inspired her to take risks and show her daughter that it is ok to follow your heart, take chances and live without regrets. Each of the confetti cards are made by hand and some contain real edible sprinkles! (Warning - while you could eat these, we don't recommend it!)
